Apply “curly quotes” when typing single or double quotes
It would be great to enter “curly quotes” (smart quotes) when typing ' or " in a text box, for elegant typography:
- Right Single Quotation Mark (U+2019)
- Left Double Quotation Mark (U+201C)
- Right Double Quotation Mark (U+201C)
This could be added as an option for text blocks, perhaps as a checkbox below "letter spacing". I would turn this on by default.

Implementing automatic conversion of straight quotes to curly quotes, also known as smart quotes, is a fantastic idea for enhancing typography and overall aesthetics. Providing it as an option, possibly with a checkbox, would allow users to choose whether they prefer this feature or not. Making it enabled by default, as you suggested, would streamline the experience for users who appreciate elegant typography.
In addition to the option placement you proposed, integrating it into the settings or preferences menu could offer users more control over this feature. https://palmbeachpropertyappraisers.com Offering different styles of quotation marks could also cater to various typographic preferences.
Overall, integrating automatic conversion of straight quotes to curly quotes would be a valuable addition, contributing to improved typography and enhancing the user experience.

To achieve this, make sure your text editor or word processing software is configured to automatically replace straight quotes with curly quotes. Most modern editors have this feature, and you can often find it in the settings or preferences menu. If you're writing in a markup language like Markdown or HTML, the rendering engine may automatically convert straight quotes to curly quotes.
