  1. Disable Google Analytics

Paid accounts should be able to disable all Google Analytics (including slides.com’s) on publicly-shared presentations.

Personally, I do not want to expose the people who view my presentations to surveillance by Google/Alphabet, etc. and help them build their World Wide Web-wide panopticon (based on my own crawls, Google Analytics alone gives Google eyes on 64.1% of the web).

As I now use slides.com for my keynotes, I would like to promote your service. Not least because you have a lovely independent business that isn’t a surveillance capitalist. If you could add the feature to disable Google Analytics, I can do…

We have added a new “Do Not Track” setting which makes this possible. If you turn on the DNT setting, we stop tracking your activity AND the activity of people viewing your content to Google Analytics.

To enable it, visit the account settings page.

  2. Presentation timer should start only when you move off the first slide

It is common when presenting to set up your computer to present and then leave it for an extended period of time. With the current presentation view, if setup is half an hour before presentation time, your timer will be at 30 minutes before you’ve even begun your presentation.

By default, the timer should only start once you’ve moved off the first slide.

(At least having the option to make the timer behave in this way would make it usable for me.)

We just rolled out a few major changes to the speaker view timer. Here’s what’s new:
    - The timer is initially paused and starts on first navigation
    - There are controls for manually starting/pausing/resetting the timer
    - You can specify a time limit to see a countdown
    - We added a progress bar that shows your slide progress
    - If you have a countdown the progress bar has a thin line indicating the remaining time, so you can see if you’re falling behind

Let us know what you think!

  3. Allow subdomain in the link option

you can not add a subdomain in the link option .

for example , help.slides.com it is not allowed , i need to refer subdomain . Thank You!

We’ve always supported subdomains in links, but I believe the error you ran into is that we require a valid protocol to persist a link. For example http://help.slides.com worked but help.slides.com didn’t.

I just released an update that automatically adds the protocol if it’s left out.

  4. Add table block in define API

Could you add table block in " define API ". So far when we pass a html table within an html block all tags are removed. Do you have a workaround?

  5. Move/resize should be undo-able

If you move an object or resize a text box that action should be on the undo stack.

  6. Update LESS version for Custom CSS

Newer features like Properties as Variables (http://lesscss.org/features/#variables-feature-properties-as-variables-new-) throw a syntax error in the custom CSS editor.

Thanks for the suggestion. We’ve updated to LESS 3.8.1 now so all newer features should work. Let us know if you run into any issues because of the update.

  7. Export IFrame to PDF

    Hey,

    PDF exporting is great BUT...
You lose all the Iframe content.

Could it be possible to replace the Iframe content by it's URL when exporting a PDF ?
And maybe by a screenshot of the iframe content? (a clickable screenshot...)

So the reader would be able to reach the content, just clicking on it, rather than seeing a weird empty space...

    Thanks,

Thanks for the feedback! We’ve added a fallback for iframes in PDF exports. If you try to export again you should see a link in place of the missing iframe.

We’re not able to add screenshots of the page at this time but will consider that for a future improvement.

Let us know if you notice any errors!

  8. Don't darken background when the 'Slide background' menu is opened.

    https://gfycat.com/AnotherIllCirriped

When I try to change the background colour I can't accurately see it until I close the menu. It darkens the slide and doesn't provide show the accurate colour.

Thanks for the feedback. We’ve changed how this works so that only part of the screen is darkened while applying a slide background. Hope that helps!

  9. Better iframe error messaging

Improve error messaging when embedding iframes into a deck.

Right now, if I embed an iframe that causes it to not load via setting a bad X-Frame-Options value it shows the same message if the iframe fails to load because of a mixed content error (e.g. trying to embed an HTTP page inside a frame on an HTTPS page)

Would be great if I this could be improved. Spent 15 frustrating minutes messing about with X-Frame-Options before I realised it was mixed content and the message was too generic!

    Thanks for reporting this Joe!

We already had an error message in place for mixed content but it was being replaced by the X-Frame-Options message. We’ve changed it so that the mixed content error takes precedence.

Let me know if you have any more comments on how that works.

  11. Position the grid in front of the slide

In the editor settings one you can check the "Grid" option which "displays a grid *behind* the slide to help aligning". It would be nice to have an option for positioning the grid *in front of* the slide because when I want to overlap several larger elements then the first one already covers the grid and since that part of the grid is not visible anymore it consequentially doesn't help aligning anymore (apart from snapping).

  12. Make Buttons and Text optional in Presentation mode - e.g. enabled full screen button, disabled share button and by author line

Status quo: There are 3 styles to choose when embedding the iframe.
    1. Dark style with by author line, share and full screen button
    2. All the same but in Light
    3. Hidden. All Elements are hidden

Why is it useful to make the elements (by author line, share and full screen button) optional?
E.g. our use case is to embed the slides on our page as teaching material.
Of course it's really useful for the students to make the slides bigger --> full screen, but as there is already our logo on our web page we don't want the…

Hey! We’ve added two new embed options that let you hide the byline and share button. Try generating your embed code again with both of those options turned on and you should only see the fullscreen button in the footer.

    Thanks for the feedback!

  14. Hide sidebar in editor view

On laptops with small screens the black sidebar takes up too much space. When editing large slides, the editable space is clipped and you can't access the entire slide because there is no way to scroll the editor or hide the sidebar. Please add a toggle to the top level and contextual options in the sidebar to hide them when editing slides.

Thanks for the suggestion! We decided to address the clipped workspace when editing large slides in a different way instead.

As of today, the editor will automatically scale slide content down to fit any display size. That means no more clipping or unreachable content on small screens.

    Demo: https://twitter.com/slides/status/1015162515263770625

We don’t have any plans for adding an option to hide the sidebar at this time but hopefully the above change solves the layout issue for you.

  15. Fragment on outlines (nested lists)

Add the possibility to add fragments to the lines of an outline, ie a nested ordered or un ordered list. This already work at the first level of a list but doesn't work if you have a lists inside a lists inside a list...

    - first
    - first on first
    - second on first
    - second
    - first on second

We just released a major redesign of the fragment mode to address a few different issues:

    1. There’s a new sidebar where you can see all elements on the slide listed out. This lets you reach overlapping elements and enables you to create nested fragments (useful for nested bullet lists).

    2. As soon as there are two or more fragments, a new interface will appear that allows you to preview fragments without leaving the current view.

    3. There’s a new button for resetting all fragments.

Let us know if you run into any issues or have any comments.

    Thanks!

  16. Bug: Subscript and superscripts (sub/sup HTML tags) should make text smaller

Using HTML editor on developer mode I add some sub and sup HTML tags, for example to add an exponent. The text is moved up/down but with the same font size. Maybe this Wikipedia text is helpful: "the superscript *is about 60% of the original characters*, raised by about 44% above the baseline".

  17. Copy to clipboard from code snippets

I show code snippets a lot, and it would be convenient for the audience to be able to have a copy-to-clipboard option. Yes, they can drag and select, but for larger code samples, that's awkward.

    This has been added 🚀

If you hover over a code block anywhere outside of the editor, a blue Copy button will appear in the top right corner.

  18. BUG: Objects move when entering text box

Suppose there's an object (e.g., arrow) directly below a text box containing LaTeX math stuff, in such a way that:
when entering the text box to edit the text, the formula expands to the original LaTeX source, taking up more text lines than the formula itself.

The textbox is made larger (expanded downwards), and the object directly below it is pushed down. When leaving the text box, the LaTeX source is replaced by the much shorter formula, the textbox shrinks, but the object below it doesn't return to the original position.

  20. Speaker notes react to user agent

Tried using the speaker notes in VR (High Fidelity), but a problem is that Slides.com seem to react to the user agent of the browser in a way that makes it difficult to use the speakernotes. If the user agent contains "mobile" it seems to default to the mobile, touch screen, setting even if the screen is large.

If there was a way to override the mobile version by using some kind of string in the url (like "?not-mobile") it would be possible to use the notes even on devices that happens to for some reason send the mobile user…
